Resentment is the emotion that generates internal tension as true-sense modulates between subjective (shielded) and objective (unshielded) perception. From projected resentment, external tensions in the form of grudges arise. Said differently, grudges mirror resentments, resulting in relational tensions that un-center individuals by disrupting their own perceptions of true-sense in relation to others. A way to define shielding then, the centermost position in the “Cyclic Context” figure above, is conscious or unconscious engagement of emotionally-modulated interpretations so as to obscure freedom, in terms of unbound sense, in self or others. Without true-sense through which one objectively attunes to reality as a continuous as well as transactive phenomena, one is more susceptible to exploitation. Holding grudges and to some extent internalized resentments obscures sensibility due to reduced true-sense centering. The later is indicated as well by decreased ability to sensibly generalize.
Exploitation is a spectrum, so every resentment does not carry vulnerability toward serious harm from exploitation. However, people with fewer or less profound grudges affecting their true-sense capacities are harder to exploit in both small and large ways. Finally, some people experience less exploitation due to functional restrictions in their environment, in which case internal resentments are, under those circumstances, moot. When functional restrictions lift, exploitations that exceed the true-sense threshold of an individual have the advantage when senses are obscured.
